At Witham St Hughs Academy, we believe it is crucial that children are provided with opportunities to compete and participate in a range of different sporting activities and competitions. We know that these opportunities will give children the chance to showcase their skills and abilities as well as to learn new sports in an environment where they will be challenged and also play against other schools. We want children to be the best they can be and achieve the best they can in line with our Academy values!

2023-24 Academic Year
Year 3 & Year 4 Futsal Team
Our Year 3 & Year 4 Futsal Team took part in a Futsal Event at Lincoln University. #TeamWitham finished 1st place which is an incredible achievement. Well done to all the children who took part!
Year 4 Girls Football Team
Our Year 4 Girls Football Team took part in a football tournament at Priory Lincoln Academy. #TeamWitham finished in joint first position. Well done to all the children who took part!
Year 4 Dynamos Cricket Team
Our Year 4 Cricket Team took part in the Dynamos Cricket Festival at Priory Lincoln Academy. #TeamWitham were great! They discovered new skills and played a number of matches. Well done to all the children who took part!
Year 5 Tag Rugby Team
Our Year 5 Tag Rugby Team took part in a Rugby Festival at Lincoln BG University. #TeamWitham braved the weather and did a variety of skills and games. Well done to all the children who took part!
Year 6 Swimming Gala Team
Our Year 6 Swimming Gala Team took part in a Swimming Gala at Yarborough Leisure Centre. #TeamWitham were great as they finished 6th out of 33 schools. Well done to all the children who took part!
2022-23 Academic Year
Year 5 & Year 6 Cross Country Team
Here are our superb Cross Country Team! The children go to different running events across Lincoln representing our Academy. #TeamWitham finished 10th out of 26 which is a fantastic effort and we are all so proud of every single runner!
Year 3 Mini Olympics Team
Here are our extraordinary Year 3 Mini Olympics Team! #TeamWitham participated in an Olympics and Paralympics event in Grantham that had 19 other schools there.
The children enjoyed the event as they learnt a new skill in a variety of sports.
Year 5 & Year 6 Girls’ Football Team
Here are the wonderful Year 5 and Year 6 Girls Football team. This is the first time all the girls have played together and have had some friendly matches against other schools. #TeamWitham all have worked so hard and improved so much as individuals and as a team.
Year 5 & Year 6 Mixed Netball Team
Here are the fantastic High 5 Netball team! #TeamWitham played 7 games altogether, resulting in 6 wins and only 1 loss. Finishing 2nd in the league which is excellent! Well done #TeamWitham!
Year 5 & Year 6 Mixed Relay Team
Here are our incredible Relay Team! #TeamWitham went to a running relay event at Lincoln Rugby Club. The children had to run 0.945km each and amazingly, finished 4th out of 26 schools which is a fantastic achievement!
Year 5 Boys Football Team
Here are the ace Year 5 Boys Football team. #TeamWitham have played some friendly matches against some local schools. Only losing 1 game and winning their other games is a great effort. Well done to the team!
Year 6 Mixed Cricket Team
Here are our exciting Year 6 Mixed Cricket Team!
#TeamWitham participated in a cricket festival and finished 3rd and were only 2 wickets away from qualifying to the finals. A phenomenal effort from all the children as this was the first time they all played together as a team.
Year 6 Boys Football Team
Here are the fabulous Year 6 Boys Football team. #TeamWitham have played some friendly matches against some local schools. Unbeaten in the games they’ve played. Well done to the team!
