Enjoy a guided tour, learn about our curriculum, school values and what it’s like to be a pupil here.
In Year 2 we have two classes. Our class teachers are Miss Johnson and Mrs Jones. Our teaching assistants are Mrs Marshall and Mrs Cavill, Mrs Whincup and Mrs Postles.
Year 2 is an exciting year full of discovery, creativity and memorable experiences. Pupils will begin the year by stepping back in time to learn about The Great Fire of London, exploring the significant events and people that shaped history. Their learning will be brought to life through a Great Fire of London Experience Day in school, giving children the opportunity to immerse themselves in this fascinating topic. Throughout the year, pupils will also explore the world around them through science, geography and history, from investigating materials and their properties to learning about the icy continent of Antarctica and the inspirational achievements of Florence Nightingale and Sir Ranulph Fiennes.
Beyond the classroom, children will enjoy a range of enriching opportunities designed to enhance their learning and build independence. They will take part in outdoor learning experiences, including visits to Witham Woods as part of their science learning, where they will investigate habitats, plants and wildlife in a real-life setting. One of the highlights of the year is the exciting overnight residential at Rand Farm, which gives children the chance to develop confidence, resilience and teamwork while creating lasting memories with their friends. Alongside this, pupils will enjoy a broad curriculum including art, music, computing, PE, character education and early language learning, helping them to grow into confident, respectful and well-rounded learners.
